Inmates protest poor conditions at Hania prison

Inmates at Agia prison in Hania, Crete, staged a protest Tuesday, refusing to return to their cells after outdoor time.

They cited critical shortages, including a lack of medical staff and described conditions that jeopardized their health.

The prisoners submitted a memo to prison authorities, claiming lives were at risk due to inadequate care.

They also reported no heating and limited access to water, available only for 2-3 hours a day at random times. The protestors further highlighted non-functional toilets, forcing them to use bottled water for cleaning.
