Severe weather on the way
Greece is bracing for severe weather as the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) warns of heavy rain, snow, and gale-force winds from Saturday onward.
This marks a significant escalation from Friday's conditions, where storms began to ease in most areas.
On Saturday, heavy rain and storms are forecast for central and southern Aegean regions, the Sporades, Evia, the Cyclades, and parts of Crete.
Snowfall is expected in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas, extending to lower altitudes in northern Greece, including Thrace and Eastern Macedonia, with accumulations starting as low as 200 meters above sea level.
The Aegean will also face gale-force northeasterly winds reaching up to 9 Beaufort. Similar gusts are expected in eastern Evia, Attica, and parts of the eastern Peloponnese.
