Archbishop Anastasios in stable condition, Athens hospital says
Archbishop Anastasios of Albania, who was airlifted to Greece on Friday after suffering a gastrointestinal bleeding, is in stable condition, his doctors said Saturday.
"His health condition, despite his already burdened medical history, is considered stable and is being closely monitored by the Hospital's medical team under the guidance of Professor of Pulmonology and Intensive Care, Anastasia Kotanidou," Evangelismos Hospital said, adding that the Archbishop is undergoing the necessary medical examinations.
The 95-year-old Archbishop has been hospitalized in Tirana since December 30 for monitoring after contracting a seasonal virus. However, his doctors decided to send him to Athens for further treatment when the hemorrhage started.
