Deputy minister joins Greek diaspora in US for Epiphany celebrations

The Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs & Insular Policy Stefanos Gkikas, joined the Greek diaspora in Tarpon Springs, Florida, for Epiphany celebrations, the ministry announced on Wednesday.

Gkikas attended and spoke at events organized by AHEPA, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and Greek community associations in the wider area, emphasizing the role of the diaspora in a strong Greece.

"The diaspora has contributed substantially and continues to offer in various ways to our homeland. In difficult moments of our history, the interventions of Greeks abroad, especially those who live and succeed here in America, were decisive for our country's interests, and this effort must continue," he stated, adding that the Greek government has passed legislation to make it easier for diaspora Greeks to vote in elections.
