Italy Rescues Over 4,200 Migrants in Mediterranean in 24 Hours

A total of 4,243 migrants have been rescued from boats in the Mediterranean over the past 24 hours while trying to reach Europe in inflatable dinghies and fishing boats, the Italian coast guard has said.

Seventeen migrants were found dead. The reasons for their death was not immediately known, according to AFP.

Turkish FM says Ankara 'would have sheltered Rohingya'

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu said Ankara would have sheltered the Muslim Rohingya and Bangladeshi migrants with merchant ships close to the Andaman Sea if Indonesia and Malaysia had not.

Çavu?o?lu made the remarks at a live televised interview in ?zmir province late May 29. "Turkey offered help with the issue and will continue its support," he said.

A  7.8-magnitude earthquake deep under the ocean off Japan's southern coast shook buildings in Tokyo on Saturday but no casualties or significant injuries and damage were immediately reported.
