IKEA to open first store in Serbia in summer of next year

IKEA has launched preparatory works on its first store in Serbia, IKEA Regional Development Director Vladislav Lalic said on Wednesday.

At a roundtable titled “Consumer Rights: Challenge or Chance for Brand and Company”, he underlined that preparatory works had begun, as well as works on the dislocation of the toll booths in Bubanj Potok, and added he expected no more surprises.

Bulgaria to Contribute EUR 5.9 M to EU's Refugee Facility for Turkey

Bulgaria will contribute EUR 5.9 M to the EU's Refugee Facility for Turkey, which foresees the provision of EUR 3 B in humanitarian assistance to refugees in Turkey and their host communities.

The Bulgarian contribution was ratified by the Bulgarian parliament at first and second reading on Wednesday, private bTV station informs.

Romanian Parliament Blocks MP's Prosecution

Romania's parliament on Wednesday rejected prosecutors' requests to allow the arrest of Sebastian Ghita, a wealthy businessman and lawmaker who has been indicted for creating an informal network of power that was used to "determine the appointment of several persons in important positions".

A total of 176 MPs rejected the request, while 107 MPs backed it.

The Greek government has deemed the refugee Bill as urgent and plans to process it through the relevant Parliamentary committees Thursday. The government wants to have it ready before a Parliamentary Plenum for discussion on Friday. The state general accounting office has estimated the bill will cost burden the Greek state’s annual budget by 110 million Euros.

Protest of Bulgarian GPs Grows Further as Ten More Regions Join

The protest of Bulgarian general practitioners (GPs) is to grow further on Thursday as ten more regions will join in it.

The protest began on Monday when GPs from four regions closed their surgeries. It spread on Tuesday and Wednesday, with respectively five and nine other regions joining.

Piraeus refugee ‘war zone’ overnight: 7 injured, 2 serious (photos-videos)

The port of Piraeus looked like a ‘war zone’ late Wednesday night when violent clashes broke out between Syrian and Afghani refugees and illegal immigrants. Over seven people were injured and have been transferred to hospital, two of whom are in serious condition. The clashes started at the E2 port gate and quickly spread to the E1 gate, as police forces were absent.
