Istanbul Governor's Office bans Trans Pride march but organizers defiant
The authorities on July 1 banned transsexual rights activists from holding a planned march in Istanbul this weekend, a week after police used rubber bullets and tear gas to thwart the LGBT Pride parade, which was banned for a third year in a row.
Organizers, however, vowed to press ahead with the Trans Pride March, planned for the afternoon of July 1, despite the ban.
New bird flu cases found in France
The French agriculture ministry says a case of the highly contagious H5N8 strain of bird flu has been confirmed on a farm in northern France and it has put in place measures to contain the outbreak, Newshub reported.
The case was reported about 15km from where another outbreak was confirmed in Tournai, Belgium, earlier in June, the ministry said in a statement.
Italy threatens to close ports as ministers meet
The interior ministers of Germany, France and Italy are due to meet for crisis talks in Paris amid a warning from Italy that the influx of migrants into the country is unsustainable, BBC reported.
Italy has threatened to close its ports and impound rescue ships run by aid agencies carrying people from Libya.
Qatar rejects Arab states' ultimatum
Qatar has said that the demands put forward by four Arab states were "made to be rejected" and once again denounced them as an infringement on its sovereignty. It also said it does not fear any retaliatory measure that could follow its refusal to comply with the demands.
Vucic, Rifai discuss Serbia's tourism potential
BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Secretary-General Taleb Rifai on Thursday to discuss Serbia's tourism potential and promotion of the country as a tourist destination.
The number of foreign tourists has risen by 20 pct over the past year, which is a new opportunity to promote Serbia as a tourist destination, Vucic said.
Dacic: Enlargement policy a special challenge
