32.4 mln foreigners visit Turkey in 2017: Tourism Ministry

The number of foreign arrivals in Turkey rose to 32.4 million in 2017 with a 27.8 percent year-on-year increase, mainly thanks to a significant surge in Russian visitors, data from the Tourism Ministry showed on Jan. 31.

Pristina: African country "again confirms recognition"

Earthquake of 6.1 Magnitude Strikes Afghanistan

An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 shook the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Wednesday but there were no immediate reports of any damage or casualties, according to Reuters. 

The quake, which was also felt in neighboring Pakistan, struck 270 km (167 miles) northeast of Kabul in the Hindu Kush mountains, at a deep 180 km, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.

German Police Make Arrests in Nationwide Raids on Human Traffickers

German police said on Wednesday they had raided properties and made arrests across the country in an operation to crack down on human traffickers.

Police tweeted that they had carried out the raids and arrests in Berlin, Bremen, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony, reported Reuters.

 Britain is seeking a free trade agreement with China, Prime Minister Theresa May said on Wednesday as she flew to the country for talks with Chinese leaders, adding that more should be done immediately to open up market access for British firms, according to Reuters.

Turkey’s tourism revenue rose to $26.3 billion in 2017 with a nearly 19 percent year-on-year increase, driven by a significant rebound in the number of foreign arrivals, official data showed on Jan. 31.
