Blind Date | Crete | To October 27

Adonis Volanakis takes curatorial liberties with "Blind Date: Versions of Artistic Citizenship," showcasing a selection of artworks that at a first glance do not fit together. Drawing from the permanent collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Rethymno on Crete, as well as newer works, the exhibition explores art's place in museums.

Kilometric Queue of Cars at Kulata Border Checkpoint

Nearly a 4-kilometer long queue of cars was formed at Kulata border checkpoint. At Makaza border checkpoint, traffic is also intense on both sides - exit and entrance, the Border Police reported.

At the "Kalotina" border checkpoint, Lesovo border checkpoint and Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint the traffic is also increased.

US consulate staffer remanded in custody

A court in Istanbul rejected an appeal on June 28 to free a U.S. Consulate staffer on bail during his trial on charges of espionage.

State broadcaster refuses to air Golden Dawn leader's speech

Workers at Greek state broadcaster ERT will be walking off the job on Friday evening in a strike scheduled to coincide with a pre-election speech by far-right Golden Dawn leader Nikos Michaloliakos.

In an announcement earlier in the day, their union, POSPERT, said that the broadcaster would be showing reruns between 7 and 9 p.m. in protest at the party's "Nazi sermons of hate."

Some 61% of appeals on state of emergency concluded

More than 60% of applications concerning measures under Turkey's state of emergency after a defeated coup in June 2016 have been concluded, and 6,000 were accepted, according to a presidential commission examining the process.

Elon Musk's Tesla Inc. Plans to Expand in Eastern Europe

The company of Elon Musk - Tesla Inc. plans to expand also in Eastern Europe as it seeks to establish itself in more geographical markets. The electric car manufacturer will construct its first fast-charging station from the type Supercharger in Bulgaria in 2020. This is known since 2017 but it wasn't clear when this would happen untill now.
