Remains found, 5 presumed dead from chopper crash off Greece

Additional remains have been found and five missing Canadian military members from a helicopter crash off Greece are now presumed dead, the Canadian military said Friday.
The Canadian Armed Forces said in a statement that NATO's search and rescue efforts are now a search and recovery effort.

German naval mine retrieved in northern Greece

A German naval mine was retrieved from the seabed by a fishing boat off the coast of northern Greece Friday.
The captain of the boat took the mine to the port of Nea Michaniona and notified the local port authority.

Two Newly Registered Death Cases Related to COVID-19, 1555 Infected in Bulgaria

1555 are the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Bulgaria according to the data of the National Operational Headquarters, as of 5:00 pm today, May 1, the Ministry of Health reported. Today, another 14 new cases have been proved, with 8 in the Vidin district, 1 in the Plovdiv, Yambol and Sliven districts, and 3 in Sofia. The labs continue to work.

Police record 1,228 new lockdown violations

The Hellenic Police (ELAS) on Thursday recorded 1,228 violations of a public lockdown introduced in March to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Of those transgressions, 536 were in Attica, 196 in Thessaloniki, 109 in Central Macedonia, 85 on Crete, 66 in Western Greece, 48 in Thessaly and 46 in the Peloponnese.

Two charged after heroin seizure in Patra

Two men were to face a prosecutor in Patra, western Greece, Friday after police discovered half a kilogram of heroin hidden in the lights of the vehicle they were traveling in.
Working on a tip-off, officers of the local anti-narcotics division stopped the truck on the Patra-Corinth highway in Achaia and discovered the drugs with the help of a sniffer dog.

Death toll from Covid-19 unchanged at 140

Greece's Health Ministry on Friday announced 21 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, raising the total in the country to 2,612.
The death toll remained unchanged at 140. The average age of the dead is 74 years.

Archdiocese of America sets up Covid-19 relief fund

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America is setting up a relief fund to support people affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
