Francis Bacon painting of Lucian Freud sells $52 mln

A painting by Irish-born British artist Francis Bacon of fellow U.K. painter Lucian Freud sold on June 29 for 43.3 million pounds ($52.5 million, 50.2 million euros), according to Sotheby's auction house.

The price is an auction record for a painting by Bacon sold in London and also for any single panel painting by the artist.

No disciplinary penalty to influencer lawyer: Istanbul bar

Istanbul Bar has found Fatma Begüm Kaçmaz, a female lawyer accused of breaking the advertising law in her profession by broadcasting videos on her social media account gaining fame by it, not guilty and said there is no need for a disciplinary penalty.

Kaçmaz opened a social media account named "Adliyede bir gün," (A day at courthouse), in 2019 and aired videos showing her at work.

Speed limits on highways increase on July 1

The increase of speed limits by 10 to 20 kilometers per hour on highways across the country will start as of July 1.

The speed limits on some highways will be increased from 120 to 130 kph and from 120 to 140 kph on other roads. The speed limit will be 140 kph for the highways whose construction works are ongoing and will open to service in the future.

First plane from Wuhan comes to Istanbul in 2.5 years

The first passenger plane from the Chinese province of Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic that killed more than 6 million worldwide, has landed in Istanbul after a two-and-a-half-year halt due to COVID-19.

China Southern Airlines' airliner with flight number CZ8021 arrived in Istanbul Airport at 9.30 p.m. on June 29.
