Agora of Aigai ancient city comes to light
An agora (city square) has been discovered during the excavations in the 2,700-year-old ancient city of Aigai in the western province of Manisa.
While works continue to unearth the agora, located right next to the parliament building, bull-head reliefs and inscriptions related to the god Apollo were also found on the columns in the square during the excavations.

Restored Palace of Aigai unveiled
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis inaugurated the recently restored Palace of Aigai in northern Greece on Friday.
With an area of approximately 15,000 square meters, it was the largest building in classical Greece.
The project to maintain and restore the Palace of the Aigai lasted 16 years and was completed in 2023 with a total budget of 20.3 million euros.

Father-son team devotes life to protecting ancient city of Aigai
A father and son team has been keeping a watch against treasure hunters in the western province of Manisa's ancient city of Aigai.
Ahmet Altanay, 78, who retired after serving as a watchman for 28 years in the ancient city of Aigai, is still guarding the ancient city against illegal excavations with his son, Yusuf Altanay, who is 53.
Hestia statue to be displayed in museum
Excavations have been ongoing in the ancient city of Aigai in the western province of Manisa. A 2.7-meter-high statue, which was unearthed in 2004-05 and is the only Hestia statue in the world that has survived from the Hellenistic period, will be exhibited at the Manisa Archeology Museum, which is set to be opened this year.

The 2,200-year-old ancient city of Aigai was one of the 12 Ionian cities mentioned by Herodotus. It is sometimes known as "Nemrut Castle." The city was a significant center of trade in the Hellenistic era and it is home to the Temple of Athena.
