Two suicide bombers detonated explosives-rigged vehicles on Monday in a town north of the Iraqi capital that has battled jihadist militants, killing 10 people, police and a doctor said.
      

Iraqi forces made more progress Sept. 2 in their fightback against jihadists but in Baghdad anger boiled over as hundreds stormed parliament over the fate of missing soldiers who surrendered in June.

The United States carried out air strikes on Aug. 30 against Islamic State fighters near the besieged Turkmen town of Amerli in northern Iraq and airdropped humanitarian aid to civilians trapped there, the Pentagon said.

Iraqi warplanes have begun targeting jihadists besieging the Shiite Turkmen town of Amerli amid growing fears for the safety of thousands of residents short of food and water and facing a "massacre".
