Turkey welcomes over 10 mln tourists in first 7 months of 2021

Turkey hosted 10.88 million foreign visitors in the first seven months of 2021, the country's Culture and Tourism Ministry said on Aug. 23.

While climbing 85.44% year-on-year, the figure fell by 78% versus the same period in 2019 before the eruption of coronavirus pandemic dealt a major blow to international travel, showed the official data.

Turkey sees more than 660,000 house sales in January-July period

Turkey recorded 660,595 house sales in the January-July period, down 22.7 percent year-on-year, the country's statistical authority announced on Aug. 13.

Istanbul had the highest share with 26,716 house sales, according to official figures announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

Some 307,000 Russian tourists flock to Antalya in 2 weeks

Over the last two weeks, the Mediterranean resort city of Antalya, the pearl of the Turkish Riviera, welcomed over 307,000 Russian tourists, according to official data.

A total of 1,095 airplanes from Russia landed at Antalya Airport in the last two weeks, said Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate data released Monday.

Turkey sees over 550,000 housing sales in H1

Turkey saw 552,812 houses sold in the first half of 2021, the country's statistical authority said on July 12. 

The number of residential properties sold in the country fell 11.5% year-on-year in January-June, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) data showed.

The institute noted that 167,878 new houses were sold across the country, while the rest were second-hand sales.

Some 2,160 oil wrestlers to compete in Kırkpınar through weekend

Turkey's oldest Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling Festival started in the northwestern province of Edirne on July 9 and will continue through the weekend, marking its 660th anniversary.

Some 2,160 wrestlers will compete at a field in Sarayiçi, one of Edirne's most crucial recreational sites.
