Any progress in efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis was achieved thanks to the Astana and Sochi processes while the Geneva process was in a stalemate, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Dec. 5, noting that remarks made by a U.S. envoy undermining the Astana process was "unfortunate." 

The special envoy to Syria has suggested ending the Astana talks on the future of the country, promoting the U.N.-led Geneva talks.

The 11th round of Syria peace talks in the Astana format started on Wednesday with a meeting between the representatives of Russia and Syria's Bashar al-Assad regime in the Kazakh capital, reported Anadolu Agency.

Russia, Turkey, and Iran will hold the next round of talks on Syria on Nov. 28-29 in the Kazakh capital Astana, Kazakh foreign minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov said on Nov. 19.

Vucic recalled that it is now difficult to get investments from Turkey because of the high inflation rate and the minimum wage of 210 euros in that country - much lower than in Serbia. "Why should somebody come to us from Turkey, when they can pay their workers less in their own country, and find as well-trained a workforce as we have.

On the eve of participating in an inter-religion conference in Astana, Kazakhstan, the Serbian president told reporters that the president of Kazakhstan is organizing this gathering for the sixth time in order to contribute to moving various traditional churches closer together.

The ceremony took place after the two leaders met at the presidential palace in Astana.

Nazarbayev pointed to the friendship between the two countries and the contribution of the president of Serbia to the strengthening of ties between them.

Vucic then presented Nazarbayev with the Order of the Republic of Serbia 1st Degree.

Iran, Russia and Turkey were unable to overcome their differences at a Tehran summit on Friday as they held talks on an imminent offensive against the last rebel stronghold in Syria, amid warnings from the international community of a looming humanitarian disaster.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will travel to Iran on Sept. 7, the presidency announced on Aug. 27. Erdoğan will attend the third summit within the Astana process amid raising concerns for a possible regime attack at the rebel-hold Idlib province of Syria.

Russia, Iran, and Turkey, co-sponsors of Syrian peace talks held periodically in Kazakhstan, will meet on July 30-31 in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi to discuss issues related to the seven-year-long civil war.
