Two more Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip taking the death toll from the offensive to 221, the Palestinian Health Ministry said May 19.

The fatalities include 63 children and 36 women.

Two more Palestinians were injured taking the total number of casualties to 1,507.

Israel is likely to have committed war crimes in Gaza, Human Rights Watch said Sept. 10, a day after the army announced five criminal investigations into incidents involving its forces.

Palestinians say 2,122 died in conflict so far

GAZA STRIP -- Two Palestinians were killed overnight as Israel continued its attacks on the Gaza Strip, bringing the death toll in the conflict to 2,122.

This was announced by Palestinian sources.

Marking the first day of the new school year in Gaza, dozens of children lined up in the courtyard early on Sunday morning to sing the Palestinian national anthem.
      
But this year, class did not begin.
      

At least nine people were killed, including a baby, when an Israeli tank shell slammed into a UN-run school in the northern Gaza Strip on July 24, an AFP correspondent said.

The Gaza death toll hit 341 on Saturday as Israeli warplanes intensified their bombardment and troops pressed a ground assault on the 12th day of a major confrontation with Hamas.

The latest incident saw two men, aged 25 and 31, killed in an air strike near Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, emergency services spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said.

Two Palestinians were killed in fresh Israeli air strikes in Gaza on Saturday morning, among them a six-year-old child, medics said.

The new deaths raised the toll on the 12th day of violence in Gaza to 316 Palestinians, according to emergency services spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra.
