Erdoğan vows to prevent 'revival of terror threat'
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has pledged not to allow terrorism to become a major threat for Türkiye again.
"We will not allow the terror threat that we broke its back to be revived again," Erdoğan said during an event in the eastern city of Bitlis on Aug. 25.

Cabinet set to convene in Ahlat to mark historic battle
The next cabinet meeting scheduled for Aug. 25 will be held in the eastern city of Bitlis' Ahlat district, rather than in the capital Ankara, to commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert.
The battle fought in 1071 between the Byzantine and Seljuk empires was a pivotal event that led to the Turkification of Anatolia.

Opposition HDP launches march under tight security
Turkey's opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) on June 15 started the "March for Democracy against Coup" in the northwestern province of Edirne and the southeastern province of Hakkari.
The march, which aimed to end in the capital Ankara on June 20, has faced restrictions including bans on entry and exit to some provinces due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

17 arrested in second wave of exam cheating case in Turkey
A total of 17 suspects allegedly involved in fraud connected to Turkey's Public Personnel Selection Exam (KPSS) held in 2010 were arrested April 24 in a second wave of arrests, while 25 others were released on probation.
Second wave of detentions in exam fraud case in Turkey
Turkish police detained 25 suspects said to be involved in fraud connected to a 2010 nationwide civil service recruitment exam during an operation launched early April 20.
The Ankara public prosecutor's office ordered the detention of 78 suspects in this second wave of arrests in 21 provinces including Ankara, Malatya, Isparta, Corum and Bitlis.
