A devastating Russian missile attack shook the northern Ukrainian city of Chernihiv on Wednesday, leaving a trail of destruction and claiming the lives of at least 10 residents. The assault, which occurred just after 09:00 a.m. local time, targeted a busy part of the city, causing three powerful explosions that struck a multi-story building.

A Russian missile strike on Ukraine's northern city of Chernihiv killed seven people and wounded 148, the regional governor said Sunday, in what the UN denounced as a "heinous" attack.

The strike came during the Orthodox holiday of the Transfiguration of the Lord on Saturday, as some attended morning church services in the city.

An alert has been declared in Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions, as well as in other regions across Ukraine. At the same time, a battle is being prepared for the Kherson region, and the population has already been told to flee.

Early this morning, explosions also resounded in the hometown of the Ukrainian president, Kryvyi Rih, and local residents were warned that "missiles are coming".
Also, air raid sirens sounded this morning in more than half of Ukraine's regions: in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Odesa regions.

The governor of the Russian region of Bryansk, Alexander Bogomaz, announced yesterday that the Ukrainian forces opened fire on the village of Klimovo, which borders the north of Ukraine, not far from the city of Chernihiv.

Ukrainian leaders predicted there would be more gruesome discoveries in the days ahead after retreating Russian forces left behind crushed buildings, streets strewn with destroyed cars and mounting civilian casualties that drew condemnation from across the globe.

Ukraine has regained control of the entire Kyiv region. In a video address, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian forces wanted to take over the eastern and southern parts of his country.

Russian forces have launched a massive offensive and probably surrounded the Ukrainian city of Kherson at the beginning of the 6th day of the war in Ukraine.
