A Romanian court has placed one of the country's best-known transplant surgeons under supervision, after he was accused of embezzling public funds for 17 years.
Prosecutors detained Mihai Lucan and his son, Ciprian Lucan, last Wednesday. The court rejected their request to investigate them in detention.

Romanian Media Try to Hunt Down Trump Son
Romanian media outlets are desperately chasing one of US President Trump's sons, who has reportedly been spotted on a private hunting trip in the countryside.
The chase started on Wednesday after the mayor of the southern town of Giurgiu said one of the Trump sons might be on a hunting trip in Singureni, a large private domain, 40 kilometres from the capital, Bucharest.

Petrounias wins gold in European Gymnastics Championships (video)
Olympic champion Eleftherios Petrounias claimed gold in the European Championships in Cluj, Romania in the rings. Petrounias scored 15,433 points. It is the third gold in a row for the champion.

TIFF opens on Friday evening with record number of spectators
Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) opened on Friday evening with a record number of spectators, being the gala with the most tickets sold of all the 14 editions - 2,500, according to the organisers.
Romanians Protest Over Illegal Logging
Thousands of Romanians protested in cities across the country on Saturday, calling on the government and parliament to find ways to better protect the country's forests against illegal loggers.
Over 3,000 people gathered in Bucharest, while thousands also demonstrated in the Transylvanian cities of Cluj and Brasov, and in Timisoara, Iasi and Galati.

Romanian Hungarians Continue Demands for More Rights
