Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that a special status the country's Donbass region in the east will not be enshrined in the constitutional amendments prepared recently.

Russia on Nov. 3 called on Ukraine to halt its military offensive against pro-Moscow rebels in the east, saying the insurgent leaders had enough "authority" to hold talks with Kiev.
      
Deputy foreign minister Grigory Karasin made the appeal after Moscow recognised separatist elections in two eastern Ukraine regions dismissed as illegal by Kiev and the West.
      

Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has extended the ceasefire in east Ukraine by nearly a day, or until Monday evening, following a video conference with three foreign leaders.

The self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" has declared martial law to cleanse its territory of Ukrainian troops, its leadership said Monday.
