Versailles reopening Marie-Antoinette's private rooms

The chateau of Versailles will reopen the private rooms of Queen Marie-Antoinette as part of its ongoing 400th anniversary celebrations.

The restored apartments will reopen to the public on June 27, featuring 100 square metres of luxurious living space where France's last queen played with her children and received friends.

Actor Ion Caramitru will be laid to rest today on the Actors Alley of the Bucharest Bellu Cemetery. On the way from the Visarion Church to the cemetery, the funeral procession will stop around noon in front of the "I.L. Caragiale" National Theater, where he served as manager over the past 16 years, for a final farewell.

In Zorlu PSM's new online series, titled Digital Stage, sections of the theater's cult works are interpreted from today's perspective and presented to the audience on its YouTube channel. How it begins, how it ends

I borrowed the title of today's column from an old essay by the late Umberto Eco. The Western reaction to the Gülenist putsch attempt in Turkey last year made me go back to it. Eco was a columnist for Il Verri, an Italian literary magazine, between 1959 and 1961. "How to travel with a Salmon & Other Essays" is a translated English language collection of his essays from that period.

There is something about medieval castles that really intrigues many people. It could be growing up with all those Disney films of fairy tales and princesses, or the many Hollywood movies of heroic deeds by kings and knights that attract us to them. The irony is that these fairy tale castles were actually inspired by real castles.

Hamlet adaptations at Ankara Film Festival

The 27th Ankara International Film Festival will bring film versions of William Shakespeare's classic tragedy "Hamlet" to the big screen.

In a section titled "There is Something Rotten in the World," Hamlet adaptations shot over the years in five different countries - Yugoslavia, Germany, Finland, France and Britain - will be screened at the festival.
