Pakistan and Turkey conducted a second round of consultations on matters pertaining to the United Nations in Islamabad on Jan. 17, discussing issues ranging from U.N. Security Council reforms to human rights, humanitarian issues, refugees and counter-terrorism, according to officials.

At least four activists known for their liberal views on social media  have gone missing in Pakistan this week, according to relatives and workers of nongovernmental organisations.

A government official has said that there are unlikely to be any survivors from a Pakistani aircraft carrying up to 47 passengers that crashed near Abbottabad.

BELGRADE - A Pakistan International Airlines plane with up to 47 people on board has crashed while en route from Chitral to Islamabad. The flight crashed in Havelian, which is around 75 kilometers (45 miles) northwest of Islamabad.

A Pakistani plane reportedly carrying 47 people crashed Dec. 7 in the mountainous north of the country and burst into flames, police and aviation authorities said, AFP reported.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Flight PK661 came down on a flight from the city of Chitral to Islamabad, the civil aviation authority said.

A Pakistan International Airlines flight carrying more than 40 people crashed on Dec. 7 en route to Islamabad from the northern city of Chitral, a regional police official said.

The national flag carrier confirmed in a statement that Flight PK-661 had lost contact with air traffic controllers on Dec. 7 afternoon. 

Pakistan's decision to deport dozens of Turkish teachers was "politically-motivated", Amnesty International said Nov. 17, and sparked small demonstrations in major cities as Turkey's president wrapped up a state visit to the country.

Turkey and Pakistan must fight jointly against terror, especially under the umbrella of Islam, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in Islamabad on Nov. 17. 

Sartaj Aziz, the National Security Adviser (NSA) of Pakistan, has hinted that he may visit India soon to "normalise" ties.

A free trade agreement between Turkey and Pakistan will be ready to be signed in December, according to Ankara's ambassador to Islamabad. 

Ambassador Sadık Babür Girgin said President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will arrive in Pakistan on Nov. 16 for a two-day visit, during which bilateral relations will be discussed and a business forum between Turkey and Pakistan is planned.
