Isparta’s rose season starts one month early

Roses, a quintessential symbol of Isparta's heritage for over 185 years and an important raw material for the cosmetics industry, have blossomed ahead of schedule this year.

Due to favorable weather conditions, the flowers began to bloom a full month earlier than anticipated, prompting producers to commence their collection efforts.

Relations with Germany to normalize after German elections, Erdoğan says

Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan said on Aug. 12 that tension with Europe was due to European domestic politics and relations with Berlin would improve after Germany's parliamentary election in September.

Second wave of detentions in exam fraud case in Turkey

Turkish police detained 25 suspects said to be involved in fraud connected to a 2010 nationwide civil service recruitment exam during an operation launched early April 20.

The Ankara public prosecutor's office ordered the detention of 78 suspects in this second wave of arrests in 21 provinces including Ankara, Malatya, Isparta, Corum and Bitlis.

Eight suspects were handed jail sentences, including senior managers and high-ranking civil aviation officials, while 12 others were acquitted Jan. 6 in a trial into the crash of a passenger plane in the southern province of Isparta in 2007 that killed 57 people.
