Şişli Mayor says Sarıgül forced him to resign with death threats

Mayor of Istanbul’s Şişli Municipality Hayri İnönü and his wife, Nazlı İnönü, gave their testimonies to the Istanbul Public Prosecutor on Dec. 30, 2014 concerning claims that they received threats on their lives by former Şişli Mayor Mustafa Sarıgül.

Turkey’s main opposition deputy removed from party after controversial speech

Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputy Süheyl Batum has been removed from the party due to a speech he made after the resignation of former CHP deputy Emine Ülker Tarhan.

CHP Eskişehir deputy Batum was removed from the CHP by the party’s High Discipline Board on Dec. 11, over his speech in late October.

Former CHP dissident Tarhan forms a new party

Following her resignation from Turkey’s main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), Emine Ülker Tarhan has founded a new political party.

The move comes two weeks after resigning from the CHP after severely criticizing the party's policies, which she claimed were “detached” from the people and not conducive to it coming to power.
