Istanbul Film Festival Honorary Awards announced
The recipients of the Cinema Honorary Award of the 42nd Istanbul Film Festival, which will be held between April 7 and 18, have been announced.
The Cinema Honorary Awards, presented by the festival to names who made an effort for cinema, will be given to two master cinema and theater actors, Kayhan Yıldızoğlu and Nevra Serezli this year.

Istanbul city authorities confirmed that there were no deaths and injuries. The fire was under control by late Thursday night.
Turkish rock legend remembered with commemorative events
Barış Manço, a Turkish rock legend, singer, composer and a well-known television host, has been commemorated with a series of events held in Istanbul where he died 23 years ago.
An event was held by the Istanbul City Lines, but the commemoration took place on the Ahmet Hulusi Yıldırım ferry this year, as the ferry bearing the name of Manço was under maintenance at a shipyard.

Pets no longer to be caged on Istanbul ferries
The Istanbul City Lines has updated a regulation that previously required people to carry their pets in cages when commuting by ferries, it said in a statement on its official website on July 25.
Animals had to be carried inside cages with muzzles, according to the previous regulation.

Istanbul City Lines to launch four new ferry routes for summer
The Istanbul City Lines will launch four more new ferry lines crossing the Bosphorus, covering the period between June 5 and Sept. 17, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
The new lines connect neighborhoods on the European and Asian continent of the congested city, running between Eminönü-Sarıyer, Beykoz-Üsküdar, Bostancı-Karaköy, and Ortaköy-Üsküdar.
'Macbeth' on stage with City Theaters
The Istanbul City Theaters staged a premiere of William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" on March 8 with an added twist: puppets.
The play will be on stage at the Harbiye Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage on March 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18 before moving to the Ümraniye Stage on March 30 and April 1.

New ferry line to be launched between Istanbul's İstinye and Çubuklu
The Istanbul City Lines are preparing to launch new car-carrying ferry services between İstinye on the city's European side and Çubuklu on the Asian side in early 2017, in a bid to ease vehicle traffic on the three bridges over the Bosphorus.
With the planned ferry line, the duration of passage from İstinye to Çubuklu is expected to take from seven to eight minutes.
Construction plan on green area in western Istanbul sparks protests
The claim that the municipality of Istanbul's coastal Büyükçekmece district plan to construct on 30,000-square-meter green area by the sea has drawn criticisms and protests from Büyükçekmece residents and rights groups, daily Hürriyet has reported.
