United Airlines announced today the expansion of its seasonal flights with daily direct connections from Athens to the USA for the summer of 2025.
Typhoon Haikui leaves trail of destruction in Taiwan
Taiwan woke up Monday to toppled trees, floods, and persistent rainfall after Typhoon Haikui made landfall on the island and swept overnight across its central mountain ranges.
Haikui initially appeared to leave the island but made a second landfall early Monday in southwestern Kaohsiung, before it was downgraded to a severe tropical storm.

Gas blasts kill 24, injure 271 in Taiwan
A series of powerful gas blasts killed at least 24 people and injured up to 271 in the southern Taiwanese city of Kaohsiung, overturning cars and ripping up roads, officials said on Aug. 1.
The explosions sparked a massive inferno that tore through the cityâs Cianjhen district, sending terrified residents fleeing a huge ball of flames.

Taiwan's TransAsia Airways said July 24 that 48 people were killed and 10 survived when one of its turboprop passenger planes crashed after an aborted landing during stormy weather.
