Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko announced his country is preparing international requests that the Donetsk and Luhansk "republics" be considered as terrorist organizations.

His words come after a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 crashed in eastern Ukraine, where pro-Russian rebels have held towns and cities under their control since early this spring.

Pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine said Sunday they had recovered objects which appear to be the black boxes of downed Malaysian airliner MH17 and are willing to hand them over to international investigators.
      

A top Ukrainian rebel leader said on Sunday that the pro-Russian fighters will guarantee the safety of international monitors at the Malaysian jet's crash site if Kyiv agrees to a truce.
      

Ukraine accused Russia on July 19 of assisting separatist rebels in destroying evidence at the crash site of a Malaysia Airlines plane shot down with 298 people onboard.

Emergency workers, police officers and even off-duty coal miners spread out Friday across the sunflower fields and villages of eastern Ukraine, searching the wreckage of a jetliner shot down as it flew miles above the country's battlefield.
     

Ukraine's ambassador to Romania Teofil Bauer has stated on Friday that Malaysian Airlines' Boeing 777 airliner was shot down by terrorists; he maintained that Ukraine has not used its air defence capabilities, since the beginning of the conflict.

World in shock as Malaysian plane crashes over Ukraine

KIEV -- None of the 298 passengers and crew of a Malaysian passenger plane that crashed in eastern Ukraine survived, and the world is in shock over the tragedy.

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informs there has been no confirmation so far of Romanian citizens on board of the Boeing 777 aircraft crashed in eastern Ukraine on Thursday.
