Turkish corvette arrives in Japan as part of honorary voyage
The Turkish corvette TCG Kınalıada has arrived in Japan as part of its expedition to the Far East, retracing the route of the ill-fated frigate Ertuğrul, which sank en route from Japan in 1890.
The voyage also marks the centennial milestone of diplomatic ties between Türkiye and Japan.
The arrival was announced by a Defense Ministry post on June 8.
Ertu?rul frigate artifacts at permanent exhibition
Artifacts removed from the Ertu?rul frigate as part of the Ertu?rul Project underwater excavations are on display at a permanent exhibition at the Mersin Naval Museum in the southern province of Mersin.
Tufan Turanl?, the head of the Ertu?rul frigate underwater excavation, said in the opening that it was the 12th exhibition of the Ertu?rul frigate.

Underwater work in Ertu?rul frigate starts
This year's underwater project started on Jan 15 in the Ertu?rul frigate in the Japanese city of Kushimoto, where the frigate sank. Japanese military ship at Naval Museum
A ceremony on Dec. 10 at the Istanbul Naval Museum honored the dramatic rescue of shipwrecked Ottoman sailors by the residents of the Japanese town of Kushimoto in 1890.
The Japan-Turkey Society presented a model of the Japanese military ship "Hiei" to the museum in Istanbul's Be?ikta? neighborhood, in memory of the dramatic fate of the Ottoman frigate "Ertu?rul."

Film on Ertuğrul frigate out next fall
Japanese Ambassador to Ankara Yutaka Yokoi, who visited the Black Sea province of Trabzon, has said well-known figures from Turkish and Japanese cinema will star in the Turkish-Japanese joint film on the ErtuÄrul frigate disaster, which will be complete next fall. While visiting Trabzon Mayor Abdil Celil Ãz, Yokoi said the city of Trabzon was better known than Ankara in Japan.
