Romania's Defence Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca will participate, May 27-28, in an informal meeting of the European Union defence ministers in Lisbon, Portugal, according to Romania's Defence Ministry (MApN).

Romania's Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu is attending today an informal meeting of the European Union heads of diplomacy (Gymnich format) in Lisbon, Portugal, under the Portuguese presidency of the EU Council.

A number of 27 routes operated from some airports in Romania to destinations in nine countries will be gradually reopened by Wizz Air, according to a press release of the airline, sent to AGERPRES on Friday. The reopening of the flights will take place until June 6.

The special European Year of Rail six-coach train 'Connecting Europe Express' will start its journey from Lisbon on 2 September. Announcing the route and timetable of the train, the Commission said that it will travel across 26 countries in 36 days.

The Champions League final will be held in Istanbul on May 29 as planned despite a coronavirus surge in Turkey which has led to the country announcing a third lockdown, UEFA told AFP on April 30.

Lisbon – Slovenian judoka Tina Trstenjak won gold at the European Judo Championships 2021 in the women’s 63 kg event in Lisbon, Portugal on Saturday. She won against Russia’s Daria Davydova. Fellow Slovenian judoka Andreja Leški got a bronze in the same category earlier.

Lisbon – Slovenian judoka Kaja Kajzer won the silver medal in the women’s 57kg category at the European Judo Championships in Portugal’s Lisbon on Friday. The 21-year-old had to concede to Telma Monteiro from the host nation in an extra session in the finals.

The Romanian Academy purchased 17 manuscripts and documents signed by Mircea Eliade, most of them belonging to the adolescence and youth years, starting with 1922, when the writer was only 15 years old, the Academy announced, in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Friday.

The new Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft of the Blue Air company will operate on Friday evening the first passenger flight on the route Bucharest Otopeni - Lisbon, informs the company. "Blue Air marks a double first, its new aircraft being the first Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft to operate commercial flights in Romania and the first to join the fleet of a Romanian air carrier.
