Many Bulgarians are making their way back home for the holidays, with a significant portion of them coming from Germany. According to data from the online travel agency eSky.bg, Bulgarians returning for Christmas mostly travel from Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy, with large communities also coming from the United Kingdom and Spain.

Wizz Air has announced four new routes from Varna for the summer 2025 season, marking a significant expansion of its operations in Bulgaria. Starting on March 31, 2025, the airline will introduce flights to Abu Dhabi, which will operate three times a week. Additionally, the airline is resuming services to Frankfurt-Hahn, Nuremberg, and Tel Aviv.

Wizz Air is expanding its operations from Varna Airport by introducing four new destinations and increasing the frequency of flights to existing ones. The low-cost airline plans to base a second aircraft at the airport to facilitate these additions.

As the clock strikes 00:20 on March 31, a significant milestone unfolds at Sofia Airport, marking Bulgaria's entry into the Schengen area by air. The inaugural Schengen flight from Naples, operated by a low-cost airline, will touch down on Sunday, symbolizing a new era of borderless travel for the nation.

Wizz Air opened three completely new routes from Plovdiv. The news comes three days after the announcement of the rival Ryanair, which announced that it also launches flights to and from the Bulgarian city.

A number of 27 routes operated from some airports in Romania to destinations in nine countries will be gradually reopened by Wizz Air, according to a press release of the airline, sent to AGERPRES on Friday. The reopening of the flights will take place until June 6.

Ryanair low-cost airline announced that it canceled another 18,000 flights between November this year and March next year. 25 of the 400 aircraft of the Irish airline, which is the largest in Europe, will be stopped from flying.
