Beatriz Colomina and Mark Wigley have been appointed curators of the third Istanbul Design Biennial, to be held from Oct. 22 to Dec. 4, 2016, by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (?KSV). 

Canadian police arrested 10 youths at Montreal's Trudeau International Airport last weekend after suspecting them of wanting to go to Iraq and Syria to join the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group.

Turkish Airlines (THY), Turkey's national flag-carrier, will begin direct flights to Miami on Oct. 25, the company announced on May 13.

A new carrier is expected to connect Greece with North America, with SkyGreece Airlines filling a void in direct connections between the east Mediterranean country with cities hosting large ethnic Greek communities.

The new carrier was founded by Greek expatriate businesspeople and is headed by Father Nikolaos Alexandris.

American private equity firm TPG and China's Fosun on April 20 bought Canadian entertainment juggernaut Cirque du Soleil for an undisclosed sum as the carnival looks to expand in Asia.

The circus troupe's founder Guy Laliberte retains a small stake of the Montreal-based company he started in 1984 and will continue providing "strategic and creative input."   

World renowned Israeli-American violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman will once again be in Istanbul for a concert on May 28 at Zorlu Center PSM. Perlman previously performed two sold-out concerts in the city in 2013 and 2014. 

A fire broke out last night, at around 8 pm (local time) in a Greek Orthodox Church in Montreal, leaving the historic temple a charred shell.

Turkish Airlines has inaugurated flights to San Francisco, the national flag carrier said in a statement.

It is the airline's second Californian destination, and its 11th in the Americas. The airline already has services to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Toronto, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, Boston and Montreal.

Greek crooner Yiannis Parios, known for his love songs, is headed to North America for a tour titled "My Life?" that features several milestones from his long music career.

Their creations are usually reserved for a few wealthy clients, but European museums are currently allowing the public to admire up close the works of star fashion designers Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen and Karl Lagerfeld.
