Počivalšek talks ways to decrease EU’s strategic dependence
Paris/Lens – Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek has paid a working visit to France, meeting French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade Franck Riester on Monday and participating in an informal debate of the EU economy ministers on Tuesday, discussing ways to reduce the EU’s strategic dependence on third countries.
Petrol ranks 9th by total revenue in SE Europe
Ljubljana – Slovenian energy company Petrol ranked ninth by total revenue for 2020 in the SEE TOP 100 ranking of the largest companies in SE Europe, published by business news portal SeeNews. Romanian company Automobile Dacia, a unit of French Renault, was ranked first with EUR 3.8 billion in revenue.

Chip shortage troubles continue for Slovenian vehicle makers
Novo Mesto – Revoz, a car manufacture and assembly plant based in Novo Mesto, is suffering from a shortage of electronic parts for its car models. They assessed that two-fifths of this year’s planned production has been lost so far. Adria Mobil, a Novo Mesto-based company that produces caravans and motorhomes, is facing similar problems.
Illegal migration down by 40% in first seven months y/y
Ljubljana – Police dealt with 4,495 illegal crossings of the border in the first seven months of 2021, some 40% fewer than in the same period last year, when there were 7,577. The most frequently processed illegal migrants were from Afghanistan (975), Pakistan (806) and Bangladesh (522).
Pharma group Krka posts record January-June sales, profit
Novo Mesto/Otočec – Pharmaceutical group Krka posted a net profit of EUR 177.4 million for the first half of the year, up 11% on the back of sales that reached EUR 808.6 million, up 1% over the same period last year, CEO Jože Colarič said at the company’s annual general meeting in Otočec on Thursday.
Pogačar winner of the Tour of Slovenia
Novo Mesto – Slovenia’s Tadej Pogačar has won the Tour of Slovenia, the country’s biggest cycling road race, after defending the leading position in the final stage from Ljubljana to Novo Mesto on Sunday.
This marks the 25th career victory for the 22-year-old UAE Team Emirates rider, who won last year’s Tour de France.

Ulissi wins fourth stage of Tour of Slovenia, Pogačar slated to win race
Sveta Gora – Italy’s Diego Ulissi (UAE Team Emirates) won the fourth stage of the 27th Tour of Slovenia on Saturday. Slovenia’s Tadej Pogačar, also a rider of UAE Team Emirates, was second and is expected to win the race tomorrow.
Third place went to Matteo Sobrero of Italy (Astana).
French company Treves leaving Slovenia
Trebnje – The Slovenian subsidiary of the French car interior components maker Treves is to be shut down in September, which means a hundred people will be left jobless. The announcement comes after the plant based in the village of Bič near Trebnje was hit by a massive fire in January.

Second tube of Ljubljana ring road tunnel to get facelift
Ljubljana – Renovation work on the eastern tube of the Golovec tunnel, located on the south-eastern section of the Ljubljana ring road, got under way on Monday after work on the western tube was completed. The upgrade, during which the tube will be closed to traffic, is expected to take two months with replacement train transport available at discount prices.
