 This year's Nobel laureates will receive their prizes at home this week after the coronavirus pandemic forced the traditional Stockholm and Oslo ceremonies to cancel.

The awards in the six categories were announced in nearly typical fashion in October, albeit with fewer reporters in physical attendance.

Tesla fired hundreds of employees in past week - report

Luxury electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc fired about 400 employees this week, including associates, team leaders and supervisors, a former employee told Reuters on Friday.

The dismissals were a result of a company-wide annual review, Tesla said in an emailed statement, without confirming the number of employees leaving the company.

'Home Alone' dad dead at 72

Actor John Heard, best known for playing the father in the hit 90s-era "Home Alone" films, has died, according to U.S. media. He was 72.

Entertainment website TMZ said the actor was found dead in a Palo Alto, California hotel where he was recuperating following back surgery.

Heard's representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

At the 47th World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, I heard an interesting Turkey rumor.  It was said that the recently established Sovereign Wealth Fund (UVF) decided to have a strong representation at Davos this year. They arranged meetings and interviews beforehand, and it was rumored that Energy Minister Berat Albayrak was to head the delegation. 

“Grexit” company sees rise in internet traffic

European politicians may be poring over the details of the rescue program but a small business on the other side of the Atlantic sees their customers multiplying, since their service is actually called “Grexit”.

 

Based in Palo Alto, California, a tech company called Grexit has seen an important “rise” in traffic to their website.
