The total annual cost of tuition and fees at four-year American colleges and universities has more than tripled over the past 60 years, from an average of $5,369 annually in 1963 to $17,709 in 2023, according to the U.S. National Center for Education Statistics.
Rose Parade boasts floral floats, sunny skies
Floral floats, marching bands and equestrian units took to the streets under a sunny California sky as the 135th Rose Parade drew hundreds of thousands of spectators on New Year's Day.
The Pasadena tradition on Jan. 1 featured Broadway legend Audra McDonald as grand marshal and the theme "Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language."

NASA's newest Mars rover hit the dusty red road this week, putting 21 feet on the odometer in its first test drive.
The Perseverance rover ventured from its landing position on March 4, two weeks after setting down on the red planet to seek signs of past life.

NASA releases Mars landing video: 'Stuff of our dreams'
NASA on Feb. 22 released the first high-quality video of a spacecraft landing on Mars, a three-minute trailer showing the enormous orange and white parachute hurtling open and the red dust kicking up as rocket engines lowered the rover to the surface.
The footage was so good, and the images so breathtaking, that members of the rover team said they felt like they were riding along.

Pluto may have ice volcanoes
Two icy volcanoes may erupt at Pluto’s south pole, according to images from NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft.
The images show two mountains in circular shape and with deep depressions in their centers. One, Wright Mons, is 3 to 5 kilometres high and the other, Piccard Mons, is up to 6 kilometres high.
