Lesvos: Police conduct operation to bring 10 migrants to safety
Police in Lesvos have conducted an operation to locate and bring to safety 10 newly arrived migrants to the northern Aegean island.
The operation, which was focused on the Plomari area in the south of the island, also involved coast guard, firefighters and a police aircraft.
Lesvos supermarket closed after employee tests positive for Covid-19
Greek supermarket chain Masoutis on Tuesday said that has closed its branch in the town of Plomari on Lesvos after an employee was infected with the highly contagious coronavirus, making this the first confirmed case of Covid-19 on the eastern Aegean island.
Lesvos landslide forces people out of their homes
Residents in the town of Plomari on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos were forced out of their homes early Saturday morning due to a landslide in the area.
According to the Lesvosnews.gr, large boulders crashed near the homes of several residents but there were no injuries.

Landslides on Saturday in the area of Plomari, southern Lesvos, which was hit by a destructive earthquake in the summer of 2017, caused damage to a home and two farm buildings and led to the evacuation of several residences amid fears of further landslides.

4.8 earthquake hits off Lesvos coast
A 4.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded southeast off the coast of the island of Lesvos, according to the National Geodynamic Institute on Thursday morning. The tremor had a depth of 5km and struck 19km off the town of Plomari, which was recently rocked by a powerful earthquake that resulted in the death of a woman.

6.2-magnitude quake rocks western Turkey, Greek island
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 struck near the coast of western Turkey at 3:28 p.m. local time on June 12, shaking buildings in the Aegean province of İzmir and rattling areas close to the region, Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced.
Lesvos rocked by powerful quake
The eastern Aegean island of Lesvos was rocked by a 6.1 quake on the Richer Scale on Monday.
According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the quake occurred at 3.28 p.m in the sea, 37 kilometers southwest of the island at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Another tremor of 4.6 occurred at 3.35 p.m. while another measuring 3.6 took place at 3.47 p.m.

Lesvos earthquake: People out in streets
According to the latest reports coming out of the island of Lesvos, locals have of the town of Plomari have exited their houses for fear of collapse, while some old buildings have sustained damage. The tremor, which was measures at 6.1 on the Richter scale was felt in Athens and in Turkey.
