U.S. soldiers present in regions of northern Syria under the YPG/PKK terror group's control stopped a Russian military convoy from reaching oil fields in Al-Hasakah province on Jan. 21.

The move comes amid an ongoing dispute between the U.S. and Russia over the Rumeylan oil field in northeast Al-Hasakah.

Syrian Kurds are taking critical steps to deal with the threat of being caught in a vise between their worsening relations with the Damascus regime, and Turkey’s possible cross-border operations. A suicide bomber set off a truck bomb outside offices of a Kurdish security agency in northeastern Syria on Aug. 19, killing at least 10 people, a Kurdish official and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Two bombs hit the Kurdish-majority city of Qamishli in northeastern Syria on July 27, wounding at least three people, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Syrian regime forces and Kurdish militia fought separate battles with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) on March 2 in a strategic area near the Iraqi and Turkish borders, a monitoring group said.
