The United States leveled terrorism charges on November 1 against a man extradited from Bosnia who had joined the Islamic State extremist group to allegedly help disseminate propaganda and recruit suicide bombers.

Joanna Palani is a 23-year-old politics student from Denmark. She also happens to have a $1 million bounty on her head. Why? Because believe it or not, Joanna is thought to have killed over 100 ISIS militants while fighting alongside the Kurdish Peshmerga in Iraq and Syria.

Islamic State militants attacked on Wednesday several positions held by Iraqi forces in Anbar province, west of Baghdad, killing at least 7 soldiers and wounding 16, according to a preliminary toll from security sources, quoted by Reuters. 

Iraqi police on April 19 unearthed two mass graves in the western city of Ramadi, with bodies of about 40 people killed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants during the militant Sunni group's reign of terror in the city, officials said.

Top military commanders from 30 nations fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) gathered Feb. 22 in Kuwait to discuss ways to defeat the jihadists who occupy large areas in Syria and Iraq.

Kuwaiti Chief of Staff Gen. Mohammad al-Khader urged increased efforts to defeat extremists worldwide.

Iraq said on Feb. 9 that its forces have completely retaken areas surrounding Ramadi from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and reopened the road linking the city to Baghdad.

Iraqi forces have found more than 40 bodies, including those of women and children, in a mass grave in the city of Ramadi west of Baghdad, which they recently retook from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants, officials said.

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden urged continued dialogue between Iraq and Turkey to resolve concerns over Turkey's presence at a training camp in the Bashiqa region in northern Iraq, during a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Jan. 21. 

At least 18,802 civilians were killed and another 36,245 were wounded in Iraq between the start of 2014 and Oct. 31 of last year as Iraqi forces battled the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), according to a U.N. report released on Jan 19.

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant's (ISIL) territory shrank by 40 percent from its maximum expansion in Iraq, and by 20 percent in Syria in 2015, as international forces pushed it out of several cities, the U.S.-led coalition fighting it said on Jan. 5.
