Almost 8000 California Residents were Evacuated From Fire

At the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, a hundred kilometers from the city of Sacramento, some 4,000 people have already been evacuated and another 7,400 are preparing for it. The fire is raging on an area of 20 km and has already destroyed more than ten buildings.

Governor Jerry Brown announced a state of emergency to help local authorities.

Mass evacuation as rains strain tallest US dam

Almost 200,000 people were under evacuation orders in northern California on Feb. 13 after damage to the overflow channel of the tallest dam in the United States raised fears the spillway could collapse.

The reservoir of the Oroville Dam, located 120 kilometers north of the state capital Sacramento, had been completely full after several weeks of heavy rain.

One dead, one injured in California college shooting

One man was killed and another seriously wounded in a shooting at a Sacramento, California college campus, police said late on Sept.3. 

"Campus is clear... investigation is underway," Sam Somers, police chief in the California capital city said in a tweet, adding that the lone suspect in the case remains at large.    

Greek-American US serviceman among passengers that subdued terrorist

US President has Barack Obama praised the heroism of three Americans, including a Greek-American serviceman from Oregon, who subdued a gunman on a high-speed train speeding from Amsterdam to Paris on Friday.
The Moroccan suspect was beaten unconscious by passengers on the train, but not before injuring one man severely.

Divac appointed Sacramento Kings vice-president

SACRAMENTO - Vlade Divac, Serbian legendary basketball player and president of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, was named Sacramento Kings vice president of basketball and franchise operations, reads the club's website.

Divac will remain in office in the Olympic Committee of Serbia by the end of the next Olympic cycle, which ends after the Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Kanter’s 17 points not enough for Jazz agains Clippers

Turkish center Enes Kanter posted 17 points and 9 rebounds fort he Utah Jazz against the Los Angeles Clippers Nov. 3, but his performance could not stop a 107-101 loss.

Chris Paul stole defensive rebounds from his own big men, the Clippers got 39 points from their bench, and it was all too much for the young Jazz.
