Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis on Friday threatened to escalate attacks on Red Sea shipping after overnight strikes by the United States and Britain killed 16 people, according to rebel media.

This moment, recorded by an AFP photo reporter, has shaken social media users, enraging them as children suffer because of the war waging.
AFP states that the school was damaged in an air strike during fighting between Saudi-backed government forces and Huthi rebels.
The photo was taken on September 3, the first day of school in Yemen, according to the agency.

A shaky truce took hold in Yemen on April 11 under a U.N.-backed effort to end a war that has made the country a front in Saudi Arabia's region wide rivalry with Iran and caused one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. 

The Arab coalition battling Iran-backed rebels in Yemen has provided pro-government forces in the besieged city of Taez with dozens of armoured vehicles, military sources and Emirati media reported on Nov. 2. 

Rebel fire on a residential district of Yemen's second city Aden killed more than 30 civilians on July 1, as the UN declared its highest level humanitarian emergency in the war-torn country.

Saudi Arabia pledged April 18 to cover the entire $274 million in humanitarian aid sought by the UN for conflict-torn Yemen, which has also been the target of Saudi-led air strikes against Shiite rebels.
  

Yemen's Shiite militia sent reinforcements south and clashed with local fighters on March 23 after the United Nations warned the country is on the brink of a protracted civil war.
      

The Shiite Huthi militia and its allies on March 22 seized the airport in the strategic Yemeni city of Taez from forces loyal to President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi, security sources said.
