Lebanon arrests pro-Qaeda Lebanese-Australian cleric

The army arrested a Lebanese-Australian cleric with links to Al-Qaeda while a wanted man with Swedish nationality was killed in a police raid, security officials said July 20.
      
The incidents in Tripoli heightened tensions in the restive northern city, the frequent scene of deadly unrest linked to the war in neighbouring Syria.

Libya's navy said it retrieved the bodies of three would-be migrants and rescued almost 100 others after their boat sank on Thursday.
      
"One of the migrants called us on a satellite telephone to tell us that their boat was about to sink off Garabulli," east of Tripoli, navy official Issa Zarruk told AFP.
      

Tripoli airport hit by heavy militia fighting

Heavy fighting broke out July 13 between rival militias vying for control of Libya’s main airport, killing at least three people and forcing a halt of all flights in the worst fighting in the capital for six months.

Explosions and anti-aircraft gunfire were heard from early morning on the airport road and other parts of Tripoli.
