Bulgaria to Receive AMRAAM Missiles in $1.2B US Contract
The US Department of Defense has awarded a contract valued at nearly 1.2 billion dollars to the American company Raytheon for the production of AMRAAM (Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile) missiles. The contract also covers the supply of these missiles to several foreign military clients, including Bulgaria.
A Second Bulgarian Pilot completed the F-16 Basic Course
A second Bulgarian pilot has completed the basic F-16 training course. The training took place at the US National Guard base in Tucson, Arizona.
Currently, 8 pilots are at different stages of their training. According to the first contract for the fighters, the US must train 14 pilots.
Bulgaria has its first F-16 pilot
At a ceremony in the 162nd Squadron of the US Air Force, Captain Alexander Velinov was recognized as the first Bulgarian pilot to undergo the initial training course for flying an F-16.
Although the ceremony was modest and informal, the results were enormous.

NASA Spacecraft Approaches Asteroid, Snaps First Pic
Two years after launching from Florida, a NASA spacecraft is closing in on an ancient asteroid, Bennu, for a sample of space dust that could reveal clues to the start of life in the solar system.
