Armenia, Azerbaijan trade accusations during cease-fire

Armenia and Azerbaijan on April 9 traded accusations over the shelling of each other's territory in violation of a days-old cease-fire aimed at halting a flareup of violence over the disputed Nagorno Karabakh region.

The two former-Soviet neighbors exchanged fire overnight but there were no reports of casualties.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an on April 6 accused Russia of siding with Armenia in the conflict with Azerbaijan over the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, saying Moscow was meddling as it had in Ukraine and Syria.

Erdo?an also accused Armenia of not sticking to a truce with Turkey's ally Azerbaijan in the territory.

The ceasefire in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh seems to have largely been restored after Azerbaijan and the Armenian separatists reached an agreement to cease hostilities on Tuesday.

This development comes after the outbreak of fighting at the end of last week, which represented the most serious surge in violence in the past two decades.

Azerbaijan says Armenia killed 3 soldiers in clashes in Nagorno-Karabakh

Azerbaijan said Armenian forces had killed three of its troops on April 4, as clashes over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh continued for a third day despite international pressure to stop fighting.

The Azeri defense ministry said three servicemen were killed when Armenians shelled their positions using mortars and grenade launchers.
