Archaeologists Discover 3,000 Year Old Fortress near South Bulgarian Town of Zlatograd
A 3,000 year old ancient fortress was discovered by archaeologists near the South Bulgarian town of Zlatograd. The fortification is from the times of Troy and Mycenae and is one of the first evidence that ancient Thrace was part of the Cretan-Mycenaean culture, believed to have been the first civilization in Europe.
Wildfire Raging near Bulgaria's Zlatograd
Equipment and personnel of the Bulgarian Armed Forces are to join operations to put out a wildfire that broke on Sunday evening in the municipality of Zlatograd, Southern Bulgaria.
The blaze is raging in an area of about 100-150 decares (up to 0.15 square kilometers) but could expand deeper into the woods, local authorities believe.

Heavy snowfall blocks roads, cuts power in southern Bulgaria
Power supply to more than 800 locations in southern Bulgaria has been disrupted as of Sunday evening due to heavy snowfall now in its third day.
Some villages and towns in the regions of Smolyan and Kardzhali as well as the southernmost areas of Pazardzhik region have remained without water supply, too, as water pumps were idled by the lack of electricity.
