More than 40 people remained stranded in cable cars high above a mountain in southern Turkey on Saturday, 19 hours after one pod hit a pole and burst open, killing one person and injuring seven.

Another group of 68 people including Turkish citizens and their family members arrived in Istanbul early on Dec. 6 after being evacuated from the war-torn Gaza Strip amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

A moderately strong earthquake struck northwest Turkey on Monday, sending people out into the streets in fear. There was no immediate report of injuries or damage.

Two bodies were also recovered from the mine on Nov. 6.
