President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has spoken with Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas on the phone to discuss the latest developments regarding the continued offensive by the Israeli military on the Palestinians in Gaza, reiterating once again the need for an immediate ceasefire in the enclave.

Well-known lawyer Feyza Altun is facing potential imprisonment of up to three years following an indictment accusing her of "publicly inciting the public to hatred and hostility," due to an anti-Sharia post on social media.

"Turkey remains an important factor of stabilization in the Black Sea region, and the Istanbul talks are an important basis on which the conflicting parties can reach an agreement on a ceasefire and peace in Ukraine," Altun said, RIA Novosti reported, citing the Turkish Anatolia news agency.
