Japanese royal couple visits Atatürk's mausoleum
Japan's Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko paid a visit to Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of modern Türkiye founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, in the capital Ankara on Dec. 4.
The royal couple laid a wreath at the mausoleum and observed a moment of silence before continuing their first official visit to Türkiye, with a stop at Ankara University.

Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine-era settlements unearthed in Ankara
The surface surveys that began in September 2021 in Ankara's Kahramankazan district and carried out by Ankara University were completed last month, aiming to investigate rural Ankara during the Roman Empire and reveal classical period settlements.
Türkiye's first female treasury director passes away
Aysel Öymen, Türkiye's first female director general of the Treasury and wife of journalist and former Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Altan Öymen, has passed away at the age of 96.
Öymen graduated from Ankara University's Faculty of Political Sciences, held various diplomatic posts abroad and became Türkiye's first female director general of the Treasury in 1978.

Turkey's first sperm bank for goats founded
Turkey's first sperm bank for goats has been founded in the capital Ankara in order to protect the species of the Ankara goat.
The project, which is carried out by Ankara University, received support from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBİTAK) worth 240,000 Turkish Liras.
