The Saudi Arabian Referees' Committee has declared that Turkish referee Halil Umut Meler has been banned from officiating matches in the Saudi Pro League following recent controversial decisions during a game in the country.

The Turkish Football Federation has suspended matches in all divisions of local football after a club president punched a referee at a local Super League match. Ankaragucu president Faruk Koca entered the pitch after the final whistle and headbutted Halil Umut Meler after his side conceded a 97th-minute equalizer in a 1-1 draw against Rizespor.
Turkish football leagues suspended after attack on referee
All Turkish football leagues have been suspended indefinitely following an attack by a club president on a referee, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced in the early hours of Dec. 12.
"We have postponed games in all leagues indefinitely," TFF President Mehmet Büyükekşi told reporters following an emergency meeting of his board.
