ATHEX: No fasting for buyers at ATHEX

Athinon Avenue returned to action on Tuesday after a four-day recess and rewarded those anticipating its reopening with a wholesome session of growth that boosted the benchmark by over 1.7% and pushed daily turnover above 100 million euros. However, the main index once again proved not ready to clear the 1,100-point bar.

ATHEX: Index loses 15 points in one day

The Greek stock market came off Wednesday's 101-month high to see its benchmark post a notable decline that was eventually smaller than its mid-session losses on Thursday. A late stop-loss reaction that culminated during the closing auctions arrested the decline of the main index, but losing stocks outnumbered the gainers by three to one.

ATHEX: Bourse has quietest day in 3 months

The benchmark of the Greek bourse slipped to a three-week low while turnover was the smallest in three months on Monday, partly due to a US holiday that kept buyers away. The reopening of brick-and-mortar stores apparently had little effect on the stock market, which is eager for some assurances this will not be a mere blip.

Greek stocks end positive, very quietly

Thursday's session on the Athens Stock Exchange was even more subdued than recent days, if that is possible.

In the end, the general index, which had been showing mild losses throughout, tipped over into positive territory, closing at 637.27 points, a gain of 0.36%. Late gains in OTE Telecom were the main reason.

Turnover was €23.61 million on volume of 16,373,894 shares.

ATHEX: Recovery of banks keeps index afloat

The continued recovery of bank stocks proved enough to keep the benchmark afloat in what was otherwise a day of losses for the majority of stocks at the start of the week. Monday's session picked up from where Friday's had left off, with many blue chips and most mid-caps ending in the red, although trading volume was significantly lower.
