The richest people in the world have lost $ 114 billion due to the sharp drop in US stock markets on Monday, Bloomberg said.
Bloomberg refers to its real-time "list of billionaires" in connection with market quotes of assets.
Among 550 businessmen on the list, 18 people lost more than $ 1 billion on Monday night.

Ethniki Insurance deal to be funded by giants?
Exin Financial Group has pledged that by end-January it will have submitted the details of the funding needed to acquire Ethniki Insurance. So far the group is said to have informed the monitoring authorities and National Bank of Greece that Pimco and Berkshire Hathaway will participate in the deal's financing.

American billionaire Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway group has officially become the top shareholder in Bank of America after exercising its right to buy 700 million shares at a discount.
Buffett had received the warrants in 2011 after investing $5 billion in the bank, which was suffering at the time from the fallout from the global financial crisis.
