The US state of California has been investigating the Internet giant Facebook for a year and a half, it became clear today, writes Reuters.

The case file shows that California accuses Facebook of obstruction of justice, with the company refusing to cooperate with a review of its commercial practices. Facebook did not comment on the news.

British company Cambridge Analytica, which is at the center of a Facebook scandal, has announced that it has begun insolvency proceedings and "stops all its operations immediately," says Bgnes.

When Congress returns Monday from a two-week recess, all eyes will be on Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as he takes the hot seat in two congressional hearings over the latest privacy scandal involving Cambridge Analytica, reported CNN. 

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg told The New York Times on Thursday that Macedonia had become involved in the spread of fake news.

Discussing the scandal involving British data analytics firm Cambridge Analytica obtaining access to more than 50 million Facebook users' data in 2014, he said:
